The Government of Israel has relaxed restrictions on gift food packages sent to residents in Israel, it was announced today by the Israel consulate here.
Persons in this country will be permitted to send “self-packed” parcels, through the mail or by direct shipment, without the services of special agents. A family may receive monthly a number of such food packages, up to a total weight of 55 pounds, Single persons are permitted to receive monthly packages up to a total weight of 27 1/2 pounds. Duty on these parcles amounts to about five cents per pound, payable by the recipient in Israel.
