A demand that the Israel Government ban the raising of hogs in Israel and the importation of non-Kosher meat were today sent to the government by a kashruth conference called here by the Israel Chief Rabbinate.
Addressing rabbinical and kashruth authorities from all parts of the country, Chief Rabbi Isaac Herzog declared that the situation with respect to kashruth in Israel had deteriorated. The parley also denounced the fraudulent sale of non-kosher meat which is represented as kosher. It called or the representatives of the Orthodox parties to raise the question of banning hog raising and non-kosher meat importation in the coalition talks with other parties.
