An additional 120 Arab teachers were appointed to Arab schools in Israel during the current year, bringing the Arab teacher total to above 1,000, the Ministry of Education announced here today. Since 1950, it noted, the Israel Government has published 15 Arabic textbooks.
There are more than 30,000 Arab children enrolled in government-supported schools and another 8,000 in mission institutions. This means that 90 percent of the Arab children of school age are attending school, about twice the percentage in any of the neighboring Arab lands.
