The Israel Government will not take a final decision on acceptance of Germany’s proposals to meet Israel’s reparations claims without prior consultation with the appropriate organs of the Knesset, Finance Minister Eliezer Kaplan told the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee today.
Earlier, the committee had debated the resumption of The Hague reparations talks. Despite the demands by opposition deputies that the talks not be re-opened, the committee decided to endorse the government’s decision to resume negotiations with West Germany on the basis of the latest offer.
