An audience of more than 400 people listened last night to a symposium on “Israel in Europe Today”, at the meeting of the Judeans in the Community House of Temple Emanu-El.
Joseph C. Hyman, secretary of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, who recently returned from Lausanne, Switzerland, where he participated in the meeting of the advisory council of the League refugee body, spoke on “The High Commissionership for German Refugees and the German Jews.” Dr. Jonah B. Wise, rabbi of the Central Synagogue and leader of the German relief campaign of the Joint Distribution Committee, discussed “The Jews of Western Europe”, Herman Bernstein “The Jews of Eastern Europe” and Jacob Landau “The Jews of Central Europe.”
Dr. Arthur K. Kuhn, vice-president of the Judeans, presided at the meeting. Max J. Kohler, well-known attorney and authority on immigration problems, is president of the organization.
