“New or even established enterprises in Israel are now being given the tariff protection they need to shield them from unreasonable competition from abroad,” it was announced here yesterday by J. Efter, member of the Israel Customs Committee. The announcement was made at a joint press conference held together with Abraham Zabarsky, managing director of the Workers Bank of Tel Aviv.
In exchange for this tariff protection, the Israel Government insists that the protected industries produce proof annually that they are doing everything possible to increase efficiency and to reduce selling prices in the domestic market, Mr. Efter stated. Mr. Zabarsky reported that the Israel Government is making every effort to encourage foreign investments.
