Israel’s agricultural authorities initiated today a new method of fighting the continuing invasion of locusts, one of the worst insect attacks in the many years.
In the new experiment, a squadron of spray planes are kept on the alert. When new swarms are sighted, an alarm is relayed to the squadron which takes to the air to spray and attack the pests with a specially developed insecticide. This method attacks the swarms in the air, not after they have settled on crops and have begun to feed.
