Israel has issued invitations to the Moscow Ballet Company and the La Scala Opera Company of Milan to send troupes to its “Conquest of the Desert” exhibition which will be held in Jerusalem during the Spring and Summer of 1952, it was disclosed here today. Negotiations are being conducted with British and French theatre groups.
The exhibition, sponsored jointly by the Israel Government, Jewish Agency and Jewish National Fund, will show the achievements of various nations in their struggle with the desert. Among the 30 nations participating in the fair will be France, which will explain how it is dealing with the Sahara, and the U.S.S.R., which will detail its methods with the Caspian region.
