Israel is bracing for increased attempts by Arab terrorists to attack during Independence Day celebrations.
Maj.-Gen. Amos Yadlin, the chief of Israel’s military intelligence, told the Cabinet Tuesday that Hamas is trying to pull off a major terrorist outrage that would sap the joy out of the Jewish state’s 60th birthday next month.
Hours before the onset of Passover, Hamas terrorists tried to blow up an Israeli army installation on the Gaza border and kidnap soldiers, but the attack was foiled.
According to Yadlin, Lebanon’s Hezbollah is also likely to try to strike next month in solidarity with the Palestinians and to avenge its slain terror chief Imad Mughniyeh. Israel has beefed up security on its border with Lebanon and at its diplomatic missions abroad.
