Israel is holding secret contacts with Egypt for several months now in an effort to secure the release of an Israeli Druse sentenced to prison in 1997 for spying, according to the Israeli daily Ha’aretz. The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office would not comment on the report regarding Azam Azam. Azam, who was a mechanic at an Israeli-Egyptian textile plant in Cairo, is serving 15 years with hard labor.
