Israel is seeking to amend its extradition law to make it easier for citizens to be handed over to stand trial abroad for a crime committed in another country. Under the proposed amendment, an individual who commits a crime that would carry a sentence of one year or more could be subject to extradition. The current law requires that the offense carry at least a three-year sentence.
