Israel’s commerce with Latin America is on the increase. This is reflected in the fact that Israeli exports to these countries doubled in the past three years. A trade survey recently completed by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry showed that Israel’s exports to Latin America sent from $8 million in 1968 to $16 million in 1971.

The survey also indicated that imports rose from $22 million to $31 million annually during the same three-year period. The main Israeli exports to Latin America are chemical specialties, metal products, food and electronics. The chief commodity that Israel buys from Latin America is frozen meat, purchased in Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. Israel also procures coffees from these three countries.
