The Israel legation here announced today in the Vatican newspaper, Osservatore Romano, that everything possible is being done to facilitate the pilgrimages to Jerusalem and other Holy Places in Israel during the forthcoming Vatican-proclaimed Holy Year. Pilgrims will be permitted to cross the Israel Arab lines in both directions, the announcement added.

Shlomo Ginossar, Israel Minister to Italy, and Counsellor to the Israel Legation Ben Zion Kadury, participated today in a session of the Institute of International Political Studies in Milan. Minister Ginossar outlined to the Institute members the Jewish state’s peace-loving policy and reiterated Israel’s claim that Jerusalem was part of the new state.

(Arrangements covering the celebration of Christmas were discussed today in Jerusalem between Biram Israel, Israel District Commissioner, and Rene Neuville, French consul-general here and dean of the diplomatic corps. The French diplomat, it is understood, declared that those participating in the Christmas procession this year want to use the traditional route down the main road to Bethlehem, now partly occupied by Israelis and by Transjordan troops.)
