Israel lodged a complaint with the Palestinian Authority over the alleged beating of three Israeli soldiers by Palestinian police who detained them in the self-rule town of Bethlehem. The soldiers, who were unarmed and dressed in civilian clothes while on leave, said they had gone to Bethlehem to buy electronics goods. Palestinian security reportedly suspected the three were trying to break into a store and allegedly beat them during questioning.
