The first convention of the Israel Maritime League meeting aboard the S.S. Kedmah, anchored off this city, today expressed support of a proposal to build a deepsea port on the southern coast of Israel. Other decisions of the convention were to increase the tonnage of the Israel merchant fleet, provide professional training for fisherman in Israel, extend maritime training activities for youth, and create Jewish seamen’s homes in Israel and abroad.
