Israel will ask the United States to balance the Middle East arms situation upset by the Anglo-American decision to send 50 jet planes to three pro-Western Arab states, the Israeli press predicted here today.
A Foreign Ministry spokesman, asked for comment on the decision to send modern fighter craft to Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq, said: “Israel’s attitude against the supply of arms to any Arab country is well known.” It is understood that consultations are being held in the Foreign Ministry on how Israel will react to the Anglo-American move.
