Premier David Ben Gurion, in a Rosh Hashanah message issued here to Jews throughout the world, emphasized that Israel prays for the strengthening of peace among nations and the enthronement of freedom and democracy throughout the world.
“In entering upon the New Year, the State of Israel has not been spared grave anxiety, but she is looking forward to her future with robust confidence in her ability to stand up to difficulties,” the Premier’s message says. More than 430,000 Jews have entered Israel since the birth of the State, and the doors of our State are wide open to any Jew unwilling or unable to remain where he is.
“Hundreds of thousands more, from Eastern countries and from the Orient, are expected in the next few years, and we are confident that through the joint exertions of the State and world Jewry we shall succeed in creating for them all a sure heaven in the liberated homeland.”
