The Israel merchant marine fleet is composed of 24 vessels with a total tonnage of 116,000, Israel Communications Minister David Pinkas said today in an address before the Haifa Maritime Club. He said that 17 percent of all goods imported into and exported from Israel is carried in Israeli bottoms.
Later, the Minister attended a ceremony at which a special new dredge for use in building the new Kishon harbor at Haifa was dedicated. The giant tool can handle 5,000 cubic meters of sand daily.
