Israel Barzilai, Israel’s Minister of Health, arrived here today to make a tour of major American cities for the State of Israel Bond Drive. The Minister, who came here from a World Health Organization meeting in Geneva, will leave for Brazil on June 5.
Discussing Israel’s health situation, he reported that the tuberuosis rate is 3.6 per 100,000, one of the lowest rates in the world. He also disclosed that Israel has brought under control a special health problem created by the vast influx of immigrants–that of diseases previously unknown in the area, such as trachoma and ringworm–and that malaria has been virtually eradicated.
