Reports that peace talks between Egypt and Israel are being conducted in Turkey by diplomatic representatives of both countries were denied here today by Eliahu Sassoon, Israel’s Minister in Ankara.
The reports have no basis whatsoever, the Israel diplomat said. He pointed out that the sudden deperture to Tel Aviv of one of the members of the Israel legation in Turkey–which gave rise to the rumor about Israel-Egyptian talks here–was due to the necessity for consulting with the Israel Foreign Ministry on purely administrative matters.
