The death of Prof. Albert Einstein in Princeton, N.J., early this morning, is mourned by the people and Government of Israel, including all the Israel cultural institutions in which he was deeply interested. Speaking for the government, Premier Moshe Sharett declared:
“A powerful searchlight of the human mind piercing by its rays the darkness of the unknown has suddenly been extinguished. The world has lost its foremost scientific genius and the Jewish people its most illustrious son in the present generation. Israel pays homage to his memory in deep sorrow and everlasting pride.”
