The Israel Cabinet today named a special Ministerial committee to carry out the Israeli share in the German reparations program as well as to assume the management of the “purchasing company” which will handle the procurement of supplies in Germany under the terms of the reparations payments.
The company will be headed by Dr.George Josephthal, one of the leaders of the Israel delegation to the reparations negotiations at The Hague. Its European director will be Dr. F. Shinnar. Foreign Ministry advisor, while the director of its Israel office will be Hillel Dan, an official of Solel Boneh, the Histadrut construction co-operative. It is planned to establish the European director’s office in Cologne and the Israel director’s in Jerusalem. The names of the members of the public advisory commission to the purchasing company and the experts to plan its purchases will be announced later.
