Israel needs to free up tax moneys it has withheld from the Palestinian Authority since the outbreak of violence to help relieve the “economic pressure on the Palestinians,” the U.S. State Department said. State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said Secretary of State Colin Powell plans to discuss the issue when he meets with Israeli officials over the weekend, when he begins a five- day trip that includes stops in several Middle East countries.
