Israel has offered Tanganyika 100 scholarships as an Independence Day gift to the newly independent African country, General Moshe Dayan, Israel’s Minister of Agriculture, announced here today.
The Israeli Cabinet member conveyed the offer to Prime Minister Julius Nyerere when he called on the Prime Minister to extend greetings from the Government and people of Israel. “We have agreed in negotiations with your Government to train a number of your young men and women,” Gen, Dayan said.
He added that training would be provided in agriculture, industry, public administration, community development and medicine. Through the program, he said, Israel also would assist in training and treatment for eye diseases and “we hope to help you in the building of your pioneering training center and to assist in guiding it through its initial stages.”
