Israel opened its boundaries with the West Bank and Gaza Strip after a four-day closure. The army said Sunday that the closure, imposed before last week’s Independence Day, had been lifted. Palestinian merchants with permission to enter the Jewish state returned, and 4,500 new permits were issued to laborers from Gaza. That brings the total number of authorizations for Palestinian workers to enter Israel to 10,000, the army said.
