The 59th immigrant work camp was officially opened today in an area some 20 miles southeast of Beersheba.
The first 40 settlers took possession of the center which will eventually accommodate 150 families. The settlers will obtain employment in nearby quarries and mines. They will be engaged in digging up kaolin for ceramics, sand for glass and phosphates and other chemicals for fertilizer.
