The last rocky barrier in a new road from Beersheba to Sodom was blasted through yesterday, opening the way for the transportation of minerals from the Dead Sea potash works at Sodom.
The blasting operations were completed well in advance of all schedules set by the road’s engineers, Truck traffic will be able to use the road immediately, but vehicles carrying minerals to the coast will not be able to use the road until it is asphalted and formally opened in April. In preparation for that time, the potash extraction works will be reopened shortly.
