A commission to secure priorities of materials and manpower for the construction of housing for new immigrants, was established here today after consultations between Yosef Almogi, Acting Minister for Housing, and public and private construction interests.
The commission is expected to recommend a complete halt of public building construction and the cancelation of all but the most essential building permits granted by municipalities and local councils in order to give top priority to the needs of the mounting immigration during the past few months and the scheduled flow of newcomers during the coming months.
