Israel plans sweeping call-ups of military reservists for its withdrawals from the Gaza Strip and northern West Bank. “This year, 97 percent of reservists from all units will be enlisted, compared to the 60 percent call-up last year,” Brig. Gen. Ariel Heiman, reserves chief in the Israeli military, told Ma’ariv on Monday. He said reserve troops would mostly take over border patrols while conscripts carry out evacuations of Jewish settlements slated to begin July 20.
