Many new cities are being planned in Israel, Ahatole Solow, housing consultant to the Israeli Government, said here today, following his return from the Jewish state where he conducted extensive surveys on town planning for the Israeli Government.
Israel is being planned as a highly industrialized country which will have 80 Percent of its population in cities and 20 percent in farming and rural life, Solow stated. The growth of Tel Aviv and Haifa will be limited to prevent overcrowding and the handicaps of congestion. Zoning laws are being enacted to this end, he said. Tiberias and Safed are to be made into winter resorts and centers for tourists, he reported.
