Israeli police visited the United States Consulate here this morning to interrogate three United States marines assigned to guard duty there in connection with an alleged attack on a Nigerian student visiting this city.
The student had complained to police that as he was leaving a Jerusalem cafe one night last week, he was set upon by three English-speaking youths who made disparaging references to his color, knocked him down and beat him.
A consulate spokesman denied that the marines had started the fight and asserted that the young Nigerian was anti-American and had started the melee.
