Israel’s newly established Council for Higher Education today postponed a decision on whether or not to accredit Bar-Ilan University, the religious institution financed by American Orthodox Jews. Bar-Ilan had applied for accreditation as a fully recognized academic institution. The Council, meeting under the chairmanship of Minister of Education Abba Eban, is the sole Israeli authority for such accreditation.
