President Ben-Zvi extended today “to all the Children of Israel wherever they may be.” his best wishes “for a Happy New Year, a Year of Redemption and Salvation.”
The President’s New Year greetings stressed “as the first and foremost commandment laid upon us” the absorption of newcomers. He noted that “the year now ending was marked by a large flow of immigrants,” their number “double of that recorded in the preceding year.” He called for cooperation of all Jews in helping “our kin, coming to us from East and West Europe, from Africa and Asia and other lands, to be integrated into our midst.”
