Foreign Minister Golda Meir met with United Nations truce chief May. Gen. Carl C. von Horn to voice Israel’s protest against continuous Jordanian desecration of the Mount of Olives, on which is located a Jewish cemetery.
Acting upon protests by the Israeli Chief Rabbinate, Mrs. Meir detailed the continuous vandalism at the cemetery and urged improvement of the “intolerable and grave” situation. She also asked for the release of two engineers of the Meerkat Water Company kidnapped by Jordanian troops near Eliath last month.
