The two Chief Rabbis of Israel appealed today to the heads of religions throughout the world to protest against the persecution of Egyptian Jews and their expulsion by the Government of Egypt.
Chief Rabbis Itzhak Herzog and Itzhak Nissim also urged Jews throughout the world to raise their voices in behalf of their brethren in Egypt. They called on Jews in Israel to recite Psalm 142 for the “peace of our persecuted brethren in the Egyptian galuth.”
A group of Jews from Port Said including the Chief Rabbi of that city, arrived in Israel today. They reported that Moslems in the city had been incited against all Jews and that the entire Jewish population was in danger unless evacuated before the city reverted to Egyptian control.
