Tens of patients from Libya, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and countries of the Persian Gulf have been treated recently in Israeli hospitals. The implementation of treatment and the granting of medical advice was made possible through Israel Radio’s program, “The Doctor Behind the Microphone,” part of the Broadcasting Authority’s Arabic-language programming network. This was reported in the new government yearbook’s survey of the Broadcasting Authority’s activities.

Persons from all Arab countries seeking medical counseling have turned to the program in order to receive advice, and some have even traveled to Israel and received treatment in medical institutions here.

The yearbook also reported increasing interest among the Arab populace living within the “green line” and on the West Bank and Gaza Strip concerning news reports offered by Israel Radio’s Arabic-language programming. As a result, seven Arabic-language news broadcasts were added in the past year.
