The State of Israel formally ratified the United Nations Convention on the Status of Refugees and signed the Convention on the Status of Stateless Persons at a ceremony held here this week-end.
Dr. Jacob Robinson, counsellor of the Israel delegation to the UN, deposited the instrument of ratification of the refugee convention, making Israel the 10th nation to ratify that document which is already in force. He also signed the stateless persons convention which Israel became the 17th nation to sign. This document, worked out at a special conference of 26 nations here last month, will come into effect 90 days after six ratifications have been deposited.
