Israel purchased 225,000,000 marks (approximately $50,000,000) worth of goods with German reparations funds in the last five months, Dr. F. Shinnar, director of the purchasing program in Germany, reported last night to a meeting of the public advisory board of the agency formed in Israel to handle the reparations program.
Dr. Shinnar said that 115,000,000 marks had been used to purchase fuel, while 110,000,000 marks had been used for various other goods including irrigation pipes, chemicals, building materials and fertilizers. Also included in the latter purchases were leather and hides, wheat and rubber purchased abroad with funds provided by Germany.
