Israel relaxed a ban on Palestinians working in the Jewish state, a Palestinian official said. But only 43 of 3,000 Palestinians from the Gaza Strip who had obtained a permit actually entered Israel, as the rest apparently feared for their safety, the official said. By Friday, Israel plans to allow in 16,000 Palestinian workers — 10,000 from the West Bank and 6,000 from Gaza.
