Israel remembered President Reagan. “The Israeli government commiserates with the U.S. administration and extends its condolences to the American people over the passing of the 40th U.S. president, Ronald Reagan,” Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s office said in a statement Sunday. “The late President Reagan was a friend of Israel, and during his terms in office, relations between the two countries were founded on cooperation and understanding.” Reagan, 93, died at his California home Saturday. During his administration, Israel was considered an important strategic ally for the United States during the later years of the Cold War.
