Five hundred Egyptian prisoners of war, two high-ranking officers among them, were repatriated by Israeli authorities last night under the supervision of the International Red Cross. Israel still holds some 5,000 Egyptian prisoners of war, captured in last June’s Six-Day War. Egypt claims to hold “more than ten” Israeli prisoners, including pilots and a marine commando. The latest batch of Egyptian POWs crossed the Suez Canal in Canal Authority boats chartered by the International Red Cross.
