Israel reportedly has frozen new settlement construction. Noting that no building tenders had been issued for West Bank and Gaza Strip settlements since the beginning of the year, Israel’s daily Ma’ariv quoted government sources on Thursday who said that settlement expansion was being halted. The Prime Minister’s Office issued a denial, but according to Ma’ariv the policy decision was unofficial.
