The Israel Government announced today that exit visas will be given only to persons able to prove that their travel abroad is essential to the interest of the country. The measure to restrict travel abroad was taken by the government as part of its policy to save foreign currency. Hither to, Israelis going abroad were permitted to take with them a limited amoung of foreign currency.
The Israel Army announced today its intention of allowing enlisted men to acquire university training in skills enabling them to become reserve officers. The men will receive two months military training during their vacations and regular army pay during the time of their study. The General Staff will grant scholarships to a limited number of outstanding men, provided they enlist for a specified period in the army.
