Israel sent police and troop reinforcements into major cities for the Rosh Hashanah holiday after Hamas officials threatened to retaliate for the recent killings of two leaders of the movement’s armed wing by Israeli security forces. The move came two days after Israel sealed off the West Bank and Gaza Strip in preparation for the two-day holiday.
