An Israeli soccer team left today for Moscow to play the first of a two-game series with a Soviet soccer team in regional play-offs for the forthcoming International Olympic Games in Melbourne, Australia, this fall. The return match will be played in Israel July 31.
The party which flew to Moscow today included 16 players, eight members of the Israel Football Association and a number of sports writers representing the Israeli press. The USSR has agreed to provide facilities for a direct broadcast of the game from Dynamo Stadium in Moscow to Israel.
