The sale of tickets for the third world Maccabiah games, opening September 27 in the newly-built stadium at Ramat Gan, started today throughout Israel. Thousands of tourists are expected to witness 500 top-ranking athletes from 30 foreign countries who will compete in the ten-day program of athletic events.
The Jewish Olympiad will cost $700,000, apart from the cost of construction of the Maccabiah stadium. A camp will be placed at the disposal of guests and visiting athletes, and the camp canteens will do their own cooking with supplies provided by the Israel Ministry of Supply. The Israel Army will participate in a special ceremony at the closing stages of the games.
