Israel faces its first extradition case following the discovery and arrest of four Spanish stowaways aboard the Israeli vessel Eilath. The four boarded the vessel when it stopped briefly at a Spanish Moroccan port.
A Foreign Ministry spokesman today said that the Ministry was still studying the case and had made no decision. He pointed out that no country had requested the extradition of the four and that Israel and Spain have no extradition agreement. He denied charges by the Mapam newspaper Al Hamishmar that the government had decided to extradite the stowaways.
