Israel yesterday swept the track and field events at the Third World Maccabiah, scoring 279 points to 128 for the American athletes, 107 for South Africa and 92 for Britain.
The American runners won the 400 meter and 1,600 meter relay races and the U.S. basketball team beat the Israelis, 65-27. Four Americans set new Maccabiah marks in the track and field events. They are: Henry Laskau in the 3,000 meter walk final; Stanley Lampert in the shot put; Martin Korik in the pole vault; and Frank Spellman in the middleweight weight-lifting.
