Forty percent of this year’s elementary school graduates in Israel will receive free education in the secondary schools, Minister of Education Zalman Aranne announced here today. The partial extension of free education to the secondary school level he said will cost 20,000,000 Israeli pounds ($6,666,000).
Mr. Aranne said that special efforts will be made as part of the expanded high school program to develop more schools in development areas, so that all children in such areas may obtain free secondary school education.
Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, announced today that more than 1,700 men and women have enrolled for classes for the next academic year. New students enrolled, officials said, will number 1,000, up 100 over last year’s enrollment. They said the most popular course chosen by students at Technion is electrical engineering.
