Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert promised to free 250 Palestinian prisoners during a meeting with Mahmoud Abbas.
The prisoner release will take place at the beginning of December to coincide with a Muslim holiday, and is meant as a goodwill gesture to the Palestinian Authority president. Olmert and Abbas met Monday in Jerusalem.
The prisoners will be affiliated with the more moderate Fatah camp and be required to sign an agreement that they will not return to terror, according to reports.
